Backup generator capacity (kVA)
Estimated annual CO2e emissions from our backup generators
CO₂ emissions per year:
–
Linear model: kVA × 1.064 kg/year
CO₂ emissions per year when using Synthetic HVO100 fuel (minimum 60% reduction):
–
At least 60% lower than EN590 (× 0.4)
CO₂ emissions per year with HVO100 fuel and reduced load testing:
–
Quarterly load tests (× 0.9 with HVO100)
What does the CO₂ emission mean?
How far could a person drive before emitting the same amount of CO₂ as our environmentally optimized generators emit in one year?
Diesel passenger car
–
157 g CO₂/km
Diesel truck
–
1063 g CO₂/km
About the calculator
The calculation of annual CO₂ emissions is based on operation using fossil fuel (EN590) and empirical data showing that current backup power generators have, over a 30-year period, an average operating time of approximately 100 hours. This includes monthly testing at 50% load.
When using synthetic HVO100 fuel (EN15940), CO₂ emissions are significantly reduced compared to fossil fuel (EN590). A minimum 60% reduction in emissions has been documented.
By reducing load testing frequency to quarterly tests, annual emissions are reduced by approximately 10%. To maintain safety and warranty/service agreements, this measure assumes that a start-up test is performed in the months without load testing.
The comparison with passenger cars and trucks is based on emission figures from Statistics Norway (Fuel consumption and emissions per kilometre driven for selected traffic situations and vehicle categories).
